October 2005
One morning of Oct. 2005 the citizins of Aalborg, Denmark woke up to
a thick, black smoke coming from Aalborg Portland cement factory. The smoke came from an 8000 square meters warehouse with large piles of paper and
plastic. The alarm sounded shortly before eight o'clock in the morning, and the fire was already well developed when firefighters arrived.
The fire could not be ended easily. The prognosis was that it would take days to end, and there were fears that the wind would change so the large city of Aalborg would be in danger of being affected by the smoke.
ARGOS was used to calculate a prognosis for which areas would be affected by the smoke.
